ReVision - Flight Crew Training Systems

ReVision has been specifically designed to provide an advanced technology platform for civil and military instructors to support classroom, CBT, fixed base and flight simulator training and briefing. The last 5 years has seen a global trend towards higher levels of standardization in training programs, instructor techniques and course materials. ReVision is very much in line with these developments, as is its ultimate goal - to enable airlines and military training centers to make more productive use of instructor resources and increase training program effectiveness. Once incorporated into a transition or recurrent training curriculum our experience is that users find ReVision to be an indispensable training aid system.

How It works
After implementing a simple flight simulator update ReVision simultaneously records in real time the simulator's aircraft flight path data, cockpit instrument data, along with cockpit video and audio data. Instructors can automatically, or manually, mark key events. In this way full scenarios or individually marked events can be quickly accessed, reviewed and revisited at a later date.

ReVision in the briefing room and classroom
A menu driven system enables instructors to access all fixed base and full flight simulator recurrent and conversion flight crew training briefing materials. This same menu system enables the real time playback of short pre-recorded simulator "demo" flights that reflect the optimum aircraft handling and operating procedures for a given "core syllabus" exercise. These "demo" scenarios can be played back to students in a briefing room or classroom environment - a direct cost saving to operators involved in the production of training videos. In this way an airline or military operator can show "best handling practices" coupled to their own Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for a specific aircraft type. The scope of training syllabus oriented "demos" includes:

  • Circling Approaches
  • Non-Precision and "stepped" approaches
  • LWMO - CAT I, II or III - depending on user approvals
  • LOFT and CRM training scenarios
  • Jet Upset recovery
  • Unusual Attitude Recovery
  • Steep and Wind Up Turns
  • RTO and effects of runway contamination
  • Stalls and incipient stall recovery
  • Emergency descent profiles
  • Windshear
  • Engine Out Handling and Recovery SOPs
ReVision as an MCC and CRM training tool
The correlation of video images, aircraft animation and flight deck instruments and controls, enables both instructor and students, to replay, home in on, and review, selected events as they occurred during training. This can be done "off-line" away from the simulator - simulator time is expensive - but with the full advantage of having access to all of the dynamic flight deck, aircraft and CRM parameters on one screen. Four hours of training can easily be recorded, and for airline and military crews that require a high level of confidentiality, all recorded training can be automatically erased on a time-expired basis.

ReVision as a simulator test and maintenance tool
As a training center maintenance and regulatory approval tool ReVision's real time parameter plot, archive and animation software is an indispensable aid to ATG (Acceptance Test Guide) and QTG (Qualification Test Guide) flight simulator checking.

Technology and Experience
ReVision deploys a Windows NT platform that includes built in proprietary graphics software handling systems for real time digital record and replay. In order to capture and replay high quality video images from the flight deck sophisticated video signal conditioning equipment is designed into ReVision. All ReVision products are self contained, "turnkey" systems that can be connected quickly and efficiently to donor flight simulator equipment - so little or no down-time is needed. Furthermore all customers can be assured of a smooth "transition to use" given the experience that Teledyne's simulator systems specialists have gained to date with a wide range of Civil and Military programs.

Product Range
ReVision - 20//20 A digital video-only system, for Civil and Military operators that wish to replace video tape based systems with our superior digital video signal record/replay system so realizing the many CRM and MCC related training benefits in the flight crew brief and de-brief process.
