Access vital flight information in the cockpit with the Onboard
Information Terminal (OIT), a core component in Teledyne
Controls' Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) product line. As a forward
fit option for Airbus long-range aircraft this Class 3 EFB (fixed,
installed equipment) system is a user-interactive digital
workstation used by flight crews during all phases of flight to
support a variety of flight deck operations.
Information Gateway
The OIT is a powerful solution to help operators manage
information electronically and move towards a fully digital
environment on the flight deck. The OIT provides flight crews
with direct access to their airline's corporate information
network, and enables the aircraft to stay in communication with
servers, workstations, data links and benefit-driven applications.
OIT Installation Features and Connectivity
A typical OIT installation consists of two OITs per aircraft. Each
OIT system is comprised of a 12.1-inch color Display Unit (DU)
that is connected to a computer Processing Unit (PU) located in
the avionics bay. The touch screen DU is the primary user
interface. It's mounted to the center sliding arm/tray in Airbus
long-range aircraft, offering easy extension and retraction. The
OITs are cross-connected to provide switching capability and
system redundancy. An optional keyboard is also available and
connects to the system via the DU.
