Teledyne Joins With Airbus to Improve Flight Safety
LOS ANGELES - February 21, 2002 - Teledyne Controls and Airbus announced today that they have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop and market the next generation Flight Data Monitoring System, based on the Teledyne current Flight Data Replay and Analysis Systems (FLIDRAS) and the Airbus Line Operations Monitoring System (LOMS) products.
The system is designed to support airline maintenance, flight operations and safety management programs by monitoring and analyzing routinely collected flight data in support of preventive/corrective actions that assist in reducing flight operations incidents. This system better enables airlines to maintain their flight operations monitoring programs consistent with regulatory agencies recommendations or requirements, including Amendment 26 to ICAO Annex 6 Part 1, JAR-OPS1, and FAA Flight Operations Quality Assurance Program, 14 CFR Part 13.
The new Flight Data Monitoring system will address both the mechanical aspects of flight operations, such as engine condition monitoring, and deviations from optimum flight profiles to help airlines improve both safety and efficiency. Operational and technical support will be available from both Teledyne Controls and Airbus to integrate this new system into the airlines' operations monitoring.
