Teledyne Controls Selected By DaimlerChrysler Aerospace Airbus to Supply the FDIMU for the A330, A340 Familiest

LOS ANGELES - June 23, 2000 - Teledyne Controls, a business unit of Teledyne Electronics and Communications, recently obtained a Supplemental-Type Certificate (STC) for its Communications Management Unit (CMU) for the MD90 aircraft. Initially certified in the ARINC 724B configuration, follow-on certifications for the MD11, B747-400 in this configuration, as well as the MD11, B767-300 and B757 in the ARINC 758 0A configuration, are to be completed by third quarter 2000. This CMU platform is field-retrofittable from the ARINC 724B to the ARINC 758 0A configuration, sharing a common software program.

Teledyne Controls' CMU platform, a redesign of its predecessor-the uploadable ARINC 724B ACARS Management Unit for router functions, utilizes Teledyne's industry-leading Aircraft Condition Monitoring System (ACMS) technology for the user-programmable Airline Operational Control (AOC) processor. The dual processor (hardware-partitioned) architecture offers the following features:

• Processor No. 1 CMU Router - Hosts all current 724B/758 0A ATC Router functions
  - Upgradeable software to fully support ATN Router functions
  - Supports Multi-Control Disciplinary Unit (MCDU) and Teledyne
    proprietary Interactive Display Unit (IDU) and Man Machine Interface
    (MMI)
  - Supports Aircraft Personality Module (APM)
• Processor No. 2 Airline Operational Control (AOC) functions
  - User-Programmable AOC applications, using Teledyne Controls'
    AGS9 software tool
  - Re-certification not required for application changes
