Teledyne Controls and EMS Technologies Enter Into Strategic Marketing Agreement for HSD SATCOM

LOS ANGELES - December 10, 2001 - Teledyne Controls, a Teledyne Technologies Incorporated company (NYSE: TDY), announced a strategic marketing agreement with EMS Technologies, Incorporated (NASDAQ: ELMG), a leader in SATCOM terminals and antenna technology, to bring High Speed Data (HSD) SATCOM to the aviation community. Under this agreement, Teledyne Controls will provide Marketing and Sales support and cooperative assistance integrating the HSD aeronautical terminal to the MagnaStar® airborne telephone system.

EMS Technologies is one of the first companies bringing high speed data capability to the air with its single and dual channel 64 KBPS systems. The ADT-1000 HSD Aeronautical terminal offers a dual channel high-speed data solution capable of up to 128 KBPS bi-directional throughput over INMARSAT's SWIFT 64 network. The SD-64, a single channel, 64 KBPS aeronautical data terminal is the first system available to offer a simple upgrade to existing Aero-H/H+ SATCOM installations. These systems offer email and internet connectivity onboard the aircraft similar to that found on the ground and can support high quality 64 KBPS voice channels or a single Aero mini-M voice channel.

EMS Technologies' HSD systems are currently in operation and flying now, and both companies are working on clear upgrade paths to allow MagnaStar®, which has approximately 3,000 systems flying, to interface with the cabin network, or potentially a future CEPT-E1 digital interface port.

Please join us at a Press Conference on December 11, 2001 at 10am, Press Conference Room 383 at NBAA 2002 in New Orleans, where we will detail the product availability and service plans. Available after the press statement will be representatives from Teledyne, EMS Technologies and Satcom Direct to answer any questions you might have regarding aeronautical high speed data service over Inmarsat's Swift64 offering.

We look forward to seeing you there. Live demonstrations will also be available at Teledyne Controls (7840 Hall I-2) & EMS Technologies' (8820 Hall J) booths.
