Teledyne Controls and Decrane Aircraft Holdings Sign Letter of Intent to Provide Services for e-CABIN.Connect
LOS ANGELES - December 10, 2001 - Teledyne Controls, a Teledyne Technologies Incorporated business unit (NYSE: TDY), announced a letter of intent with Decrane Aircraft Holdings Incorporated to provide service for e-CABIN.Connect™. Teledyne will establish and provide Ku-band Service Subscriptions and maintain a 24-hour Service Center responsible for handling customer questions and hardware exchange requests.
The e-CABIN.Connect system provides high-speed Ku-band content that can deliver data to the aircraft at up to 2 megabytes per second (mbps). The aircraft-to-ground downlink utilizes existing MagnaStar® phone systems or other narrow band connections.
The e-CABIN.Connect system is a fully-integrated, onboard internet solution for the corporate jet market. It brings all three critical airborne internet components together: the Internet Service Provider (ISP) and network service provider; the aircraft communications segment; and the aircraft cabin management system (CMS). The integrated and expandable e-CABIN.Connect system interfaces with any CMS, manages and controls the various existing aircraft communications links, and is designed to accommodate future broadband technologies such as the Immarsat HSD and Ka-band satellites.
