Bombardier Places a Large Order From Teledyne Controls

Los Angeles - February 1, 2001 - Teledyne Controls, a business unit of Teledyne Electronics and Communications, received an order from Bombardier for the MagnaStar® digital airborne telephone system for use on the Global Express, Challenger, and LearJet aircraft. MagnaStar® is the primary airborne phone system for Bombardier aircraft. Bombardier purchased 133 MagnaStar® systems in 1999, and 142 systems in 2000. Teledyne expects sales of MagnaStar® to Bombardier to be even higher in 2001. MagnaStar® is used as a telephone link for the passengers, and for TeleLink®,to upload weather graphics over the system. MagnaStar® is widely installed across LearJet, Citation, Challenger, Gulfstream, Hawker, BBJ and various other aircraft types.

MagnaStar® utilizes an exclusive airborne telecommunications service connection over the GTE Airfone digital ground network and is by far the most popular fully digital air telephone system available today for business jet aircraft.

The 1 MCU Telelink® communicates with existing ground networks per ARINC 724B message formats, and can will facilitate ARINC 758 CMU messaging. This growth capability will allow Telelink® operators to implement AOA/VDL Mode 2 with their existing Telelink® hardware. Teledyne has numerous certified installations for Telelink® and can provide turn-key system packages for other regional airline and business jet aircraft.
