Vietnam Airlines Chooses Teledyne Controls OQAR for 777 Fleet

LOS ANGELES – October 1, 2002 – Teledyne Controls, a Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE: TDY) company, announced today that Vietnam Airlines has chosen its Optical Quick Access Recorder (OQAR) for Vietnam’s Boeing 777 fleet.

The Optical Quick Access Recorder is designed to store continuous raw data from the digital flight data acquisition unit (DFDAU) or flight data interface unit (FDIU) onboard an aircraft to an optical disk. This disk can be analyzed on the ground in support of engine condition monitoring, aircraft maintenance and /or proactive safety initiatives such as flight operations quality assurance (FOQA) programs.
