Gulfstream Selects Teledyne Controls'
Mini-Flight Data Acquisition Unit (MFDAU)
LOS ANGELES - June 9, 2000 - Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation has placed an approximately $4 million order with Teledyne Controls, a business unit of Teledyne Electronics and Communications, a Teledyne Technologies (NYSE: TDY) company. The Gulfstream order is to purchase Mini-Flight Data Acquisition (MFDAU) systems for their GIV-SP and GV aircraft. The MFDAU plays an active role as an intermediary device, acquiring and processing mandatory FAA aircraft and engine data for storage in the flight data recorder, commonly known as the "black box".
With fractional ownership companies becoming more adherent to FAA's Part 135 rules, the MFDAU is an excellent addition to aircraft using flight-data recorders. Both GIV-SP and GV aircraft will use Teledyne Controls' new 4MCU-MFDAU to ensure compliance with current FAA and European JAR-OPS requirements.
The compact and lightweight MFDAU has been designed for future data acquisition requirements. Optional features include Aircraft/Engine Condition Monitoring System (ACMS) capability, a (pc-card) recording device for ground retrieval and analysis, and an Airborne Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) interface. When installed with the Aircraft Condition Monitoring System (ACMS) option, and Teledyne Control's TeleLink™ data link system, the MFDAU provides the means to transmit real-time critical aircraft-condition information to the ground for analysis.
