Five Years of Operational Efficiency for Interjet using Teledyne Controls' End to End Wireless Flight Data Monitoring Solution

El Segundo, CA - December 6, 2010 - Teledyne Controls, a business unit of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE: TDY), is pleased to celebrate with Interjet their five years of operations. The Mexican low-cost airline, which started operations in December 2005, was the first Latin American carrier to implement a robust and automated Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) program, leading the way for other operators in the region to follow. To support their FOQA program, Interjet decided to deploy Teledyne Controls' end to end wireless Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) solution across their entire fleet. They selected Teledyne's Flight Data Interface Management Unit (FDIMU) and Wireless GroundLink® Quick Access Recorder (WQAR), as well as AirFASE®, a software application jointly developed and supported by Teledyne and Airbus.

The FDIMU and WQAR are designed to provide a seamless and automated solution for data acquisition and retrieval. Interjet has mandated their use on all of their aircraft deliveries. The FDIMU performs the mandatory data acquisition and recording functions, while providing a fully-programmable ACMS (Aircraft Condition Monitoring System) processing capability. The WQAR ensures the secure and automated transmission of the flight data from the aircraft to Interjet's ground station based in Toluca, after every landing, regardless of airport location. On the ground, the AirFASE software application processes and analyses the received flight data and sends automatic email notifications to Interjet's flight safety department each time an event or exceedance of high severity is detected. This automated process has been instrumental in enabling Interjet to identify any potential issue within minutes after an aircraft has landed, and take immediate preventive/corrective action to address it.

"Teledyne has worked with us since the beginning and they have been very supportive," said Captain Lavalle Robles, Interjet's Flight Safety Director. "They took into consideration our specific requirements and helped us implement a robust and dependable FDM process."

As Interjet is committed to streamlining their operations even further, they are considering using their installed WQARs to support the needs of other operational areas, such as electronic distribution of software parts. When used with Teledyne's enhanced Airborne Data Loader (eADL), the WQAR allows software parts to be electronically transferred directly from the ground to the eADL onboard the aircraft. This eliminates the need to manually carry and load hundreds of floppy disks onto each aircraft, saving time, manpower and reducing overall costs.

"Interjet has gone a long way since they started operations five years ago. We are always looking for ways to help them further and support them for many years to come," said Anas Bennani, Teledyne Controls' Senior Sales Manager for Latin America.
