El Segundo, CA - February 25, 2010 - Teledyne Controls, a business unit of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE: TDY), announced today that Southwest Airlines has ordered Teledyne Controls' LoadStar® Server Enterprise (LSE) software and PMAT 2000® Portable Maintenance Access Terminal to support data distribution and loading across their entire fleet. The leading American low-cost airline will use the LSE software along with 30 PMAT 2000 systems to configure, distribute and load Loadable Software Parts (LSPs) onto their Boeing 737 aircraft at 26 maintenance locations. The deployment of this integrated data loading solution was completed in January 2010.
"This is an exciting opportunity for Teledyne to support Southwest Airlines' data distribution and loading operation," said Marshall Dormire, Technical Sales Director for Teledyne Controls' Data Loading Solutions. "Teledyne's enterprise level distribution and loading solution meets Southwest Airlines' data loading initiatives. We're pleased to support these requirements and look forward to providing more avionics solutions to support their expanding requirements in the future."
With more than 25 years developing data loading equipment, Teledyne Controls is the industry leader in providing reliable end-to-end data loading solutions to meet demanding industry and customer standards.
Teledyne's LSE software manages electronic LSP distribution and data collection to and from data loaders and airborne servers through airline networks, WiFi and Cellular links. When used with PMAT 2000 systems, LSE distributes the LSPs to the PMAT 2000 data loader, which loads them into the LRUs, while collecting other aircraft data that LSE automatically returns to centralized servers for engineering review and analysis. With LSE, airlines can transition from manual LSP distribution, based on floppy disks, CDs and paper-based methods, to a paperless and automatic distribution process that maintains the entire fleet's library files. This speeds-up information delivery, reduces costs and improves process management for all software part types and most aircraft generated data. Furthermore, LSE's architecture is highly compatible with an airline's modern IT infrastructure and supports existing and next generation avionics loading requirements, allowing the airline to adopt a unified process across legacy and future fleets.
The PMAT 2000 system, which combines data loading with a digital maintenance access terminal, allows airlines to easily manage and configure their LSPs and load them from servers to aircraft avionics. The PMAT 2000 system accepts software parts from various types of media and is compatible with Teledyne's LSE software. This complete hardware and software data loading solution eliminates the need for removable media, automates the data loading process and quickly uploads software libraries to the aircraft and across an entire fleet.
