LOS ANGELES, CA - March 27, 2007 - Teledyne Controls, a business unit of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE: TDY), announced today that it has been selected by Thales as the standard data acquisition system supplier for the new Sukhoi Superjet 100 Aircraft. Under the agreement, Teledyne Controls will supply its Integrated Flight Data Management Unit (IFDMU), a multi-function unit designed to perform flight data acquisition, aircraft condition monitoring and data recording.
The IFDMU supplied by Teledyne Controls for the Sukhoi SuperJet 100 Aircraft is a customized version of Teledyne's Flight Data Interface Management Unit (FDIMU), a service-proven solution chosen by over 100 Airbus aircraft operators worldwide. The IFDMU is a compact and integrated data acquisition and recording system, which combines into a single Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) the multiple functions of traditionally separated systems. The IFDMU will fulfill the functions of the Flight Data Interface Unit (FDIU) used for mandatory data acquisition, the Data Management Unit (DMU) that performs engine/aircraft condition monitoring, and the Digital Access Recorder (DAR). By literally replacing up to three LRUs, the Teledyne data management system will allow Sukhoi SuperJet 100 operators to reduce weight, wiring and rack space, and make significant savings on initial equipment cost.
Manufactured by Sukhoi Civil Aircraft, a unit of Sukhoi Company (JSC), Russia's major aircraft holding company, the Superjet 100 is a passenger regional jet featuring 75 and 95 seats. The first test flight of the Superjet 100 is scheduled for September 2007 and the first aircraft deliveries are anticipated for the end of 2008.
