Teledyne Controls' Wireless GroundLink® System Flying on Air Canada's New Boeing 777 Aircraft

LOS ANGELES, CA - April 11, 2007 - Teledyne Controls, a business unit of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE: TDY), announced today that its Wireless GroundLink® system (WGL) has been successfully installed and is now in service on Air Canada's first delivered Boeing 777 aircraft, which started operations on April 5. The Canadian flag carrier selected the Teledyne Controls Wireless GroundLink solution for its entire new 777 fleet. In line with Air Canada's other state of the art flight safety initiatives, the WGL will be instrumental in achieving a fully automated flight data recording and transmission strategy.

With this latest solution, Teledyne Controls supplies an additional building block onto Air Canada' premier Flight Data Analysis (FDA) managed service. The WGL can now record and wirelessly transfer flight data from any airport location, in Canada or worldwide, to the analysis center, automatically, without any physical media handling and human intervention. The data recorded during flight is compressed, encrypted and then seamlessly transmitted via cellular technology and secure Internet to Teledyne's Canadian data analysis center in Ottawa. There, it is processed and analyzed by a joint team of Teledyne and Air Canada specialists comprising pilots, computer scientists and data analysis experts. With the Wireless GroundLink system, Air Canada can, for the first time, take advantage of a fully automated end-to-end data recording, transmission and managed service.

Another significant capability of the Wireless GroundLink solution is its 'Download on Demand' function. With this feature, operators using appropriate security protocol, can, if necessary, remotely command flight data download from an aircraft located virtually anywhere in the world, and receive the data upon landing, at the analysis center of their choice. This further capability of the WGL gives airlines the option to collect critical flight data from remote locations much faster, and therefore respond to potential issues in record time.

Teledyne Controls' Wireless GroundLink system is a unique patented device designed to provide operators with an immediate, reliable and cost-effective solution for transmitting data from the aircraft to the airline FDA office. The WGL offers unprecedented end-to-end system reliability with observed data recovery rates close to 100 percent of all sectors flown. It also allows airlines to significantly reduce data delivery delays, as the data is typically available within 10-15 minutes after an aircraft has landed versus several days or weeks with manual data retrieval. Additional operational benefits are realized since human resources, equipment costs and data-loss associated with manual retrieval methods are virtually eliminated.

Selected by 35 operators worldwide, the Teledyne Wireless GroundLink solution is flying on over 400 aircraft and has been certified on numerous aircraft types. It is available factory fit from Boeing on the B777 and B737NG and from Airbus on A320 family, A330, A340 and A380 aircraft types.

The Wireless GroundLink system is an integral part of Teledyne's end-to-end aircraft data and information management solutions. Designed to assist airlines with their FDM/ FOQA (Flight Operations Quality Assurance) initiatives, these offerings include innovative airborne data acquisition products, air-to-ground wireless data transfer systems and ground-based applications and services that fit together to deliver greater benefits to the operators and provide the total solution they need for a successful flight safety program.
