LOS ANGELES, CA - January 26, 2006 - Teledyne Controls, a business unit of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE: TDY), announced today that it has received Design Organization Approval (Part 21, Subpart J) from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for its office located in Heathrow, England.
This approval allows Teledyne Controls to authorize minor changes to the design of flight data monitoring systems without requiring the approval of the EASA and to submit major changes (STC's) for approval to EASA. These new privileges will greatly expedite the installation process of Teledyne's flight data monitoring and recording equipment on European customers' aircraft.
"The certification recognizes the engineering capability of Teledyne Controls Heathrow. Our England facility specializes in providing support for all aspects of flight data recording analysis. The DOA will further enhance the design support service available to our European customers", said Peter Clapp, Manager of the Heathrow facility.
In order to obtain Design Organization Approval, Teledyne Controls Heathrow developed detailed engineering and organizational procedures against which it was audited for compliance. The approval allows Teledyne to perform the design, engineering development, integration, testing and certification activities for avionics equipment installations on new and existing EASA registered aircraft.
The Teledyne Controls Heathrow facility is an EASA Part 21 J, Design, Part 145 Maintenance and ISO 9001:2000TickIT (quality management system) approved organization. Manned by a team of experts in flight data management and analysis, the facility provides support for Teledyne Controls flight data monitoring and replay analysis systems in addition to design and modification services throughout Europe.
