LOS ANGELES, CA - April 21, 2005 - Teledyne Controls, a business unit of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE: TDY), announced today that it has received Production Organization Approval (Part 21 Subpart G) from the EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) for its service center located in Cumbernauld, Scotland. This new certification, coupled with Teledyne Controls' other regulatory capabilities, will facilitate the obtention of European STCs (Supplemental Type Certificates), and therefore the installation process of Teledyne's equipment on European customers' aircraft.
The procedure to obtain production capability for the Scotland facility was initiated in mid-2004 by Teledyne Controls, which then went through a series of extensive audits. The EASA approval was issued March 3 and allows the Scottish service center to perform production activities in addition to its regular repair and maintenance functions.
"With a significant portion of our customers located in the EU, this EASA approval is pivotal in our ability to service our customers better and faster", said Gerry Hamilton, Teledyne Controls' manager of the Cumbernauld Service Center.
The Teledyne Controls Scotland service center is an FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and EASA approved repair station with the capability to perform the overhaul and repair of all Teledyne's products. Manned by highly trained test and rework personnel using state-of-the-art equipment, the facility provides regular and emergency AOG (Aircraft On Ground) repair and product upgrades for customers located in Europe, CIS, Africa, and the Middle East. The service center is also ISO 9001:2000 (quality management system) and ISO 14001 (environmental management system) certified.
