Japan Airlines Selects Teledyne Controls' integrated Data Management Unit (iDMU) for Boeing 767-200/300 Aircraft Fleet

LOS ANGELES, CA - February 28, 2005 - Teledyne Controls, a business unit of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE: TDY), announced today that Japan Airlines (JAL) has selected Teledyne Controls' integrated Data Management Unit (iDMU) for retrofit installation on its B767-200/300 fleet of 16 Aircraft. Teledyne's iDMU will replace the legacy DMU (Data Management Unit) currently in service, providing enhanced ACMS (Aircraft Condition Monitoring System) and recording capabilities.

"JAL is one of Teledyne's long-standing customers for our data acquisition products," said Charles Tamburo, Teledyne Controls' Assistant Director of Sales and Service for the Asia-Pacific Region. "We are proud to have the opportunity to continue the relationship with this modernization program."

Designed to meet the extensive data monitoring requirements of modern digital aircraft, Teledyne Controls' iDMU is a new-generation data management system that succeeds the Teledyne legacy DMU, already used by more than twenty-five operators, in over 700 installations. Integrating the latest technology, the iDMU delivers increased performance, while significantly reducing the circuit card count, which results in higher reliability, reduced weight and lower maintenance costs. Accepting data from a variety of data acquisition systems, the iDMU's enhanced ACMS function facilitates aircraft/engine performance monitoring, in addition to daily flight operations monitoring. It also features a user-programmable interface that allows airlines to customize their own ACMS applications. The iDMU integrates a data recording function via PC Card media, offering operators the benefits of a multi-function system into a single unit.
