LOS ANGELES, CA - September 13, 2005 - Teledyne Controls, a business unit of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE: TDY), announced today that Japan Airlines (JAL) has selected Teledyne Controls' Enhanced DFDAU (Digital Flight Data Acquisition Unit) and ACMS (Aircraft Condition Monitoring System) application software development services for their new Boeing 737-800 aircraft fleet. Teledyne's next-generation DFDAU, which incorporates new technology and higher throughput Data Management capabilities, will provide a solid foundation for JAL's current and future ACMS requirements.

Teledyne Controls' next-generation DFDAU is an integrated data acquisition and recording system available for new and retrofit installations on Boeing aircraft families. Based on Teledyne's concept of LRU (Line Replaceable Unit) Compression™, the DFDAU combines into a single unit the multiple functions of traditionally separated systems. By fulfilling the functions of the mandatory data acquisition unit, the Data Management Unit (DMU) that performs Engine/Aircraft Condition Monitoring, and the Data Access Recorder (DAR), Teledyne's new DFDAU can literally replace up to three LRUs, allowing operators to reduce weight, wiring and rack space, and resulting in significant savings on initial equipment cost.
