Air Canada Selects Teledyne Controls To Provide Comprehensive Outsourced Flight Data Analysis Service.

OTTAWA, CANADA - June 15, 2004- Teledyne Controls, a business unit of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE: TDY), announced today that it has been awarded the largest outsourced Flight Data Analysis (FDA) service contract in the world to date by national flag carrier Air Canada. Teledyne will supply a full remote FDA service solution that was jointly developed with Air Canada. Initially encompassing over 100 Airbus A319/A320/A321 single-aisle family aircraft, the agreement extends for an initial period of five years.

Air Canada's decision to pursue an outsourced FDA option was reached after careful study and research. While the cost considerations could suggest delaying the program for a better economic environment, the North American carrier, loyal to its commitment to "Safety First", decided to go forward. The implementation of this FDA program at Air Canada sets new standards for Flight Safety in Canada.

"While many FDA vendors were considered, only Teledyne offered the advanced software capabilities, flight data expertise, IT support, comprehensive security protections, and progressive project management structures necessary to meet Air Canada's objectives," said Captain Allan Alls, chief safety officer for Air Canada. The Canadian flag carrier's requirements were to establish a comprehensive program including routine monitoring of flight operations, as well as added capabilities to further research collected data and address aircraft technical issues. Additionally Air Canada required an active role in the program, and aimed at developing in-house FDA competence by working closely with the selected supplier to bring constant improvement to the program. "Over the past few years, we have built a strong working relationship with Teledyne, collaborating on several high profile programs related to the collection and analysis of recorded flight information. This FDA service contract recognizes Teledyne's expertise in this field and attests our confidence in Teledyne to deliver an industry leading program. We are confident to meet our safety objectives through this FDA Outsourced Service Solution and develop further innovations and efficiencies as we move forward with Teledyne," added Captain Alls.

Teledyne Controls Simulation recently completed several Flight Safety initiatives with Air Canada, including the implementation of Teledyne's Vision Flight Animation System, and joint project work for the Government of Canada.

"We are pleased to work with a leading North American carrier like Air Canada," said George E. Simmons, vice president of Marketing, Sales and Services for Teledyne Controls. "This contract launches our new Platinum Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) Service in a significant way." The Platinum service offers the most comprehensive and personalized solution available to airlines initiating an FDM program, and is part of Teledyne's new line of FDM managed services.
